Dr. Konur is a health care coordinator with Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System, additionally he will serve as TEM's Board Treasurer. Ms. Hernandez is an Outreach and Education Liaison with Community Care Hospital. |
| PEER- TO- PEER CLASSES BEGINNING FEBRUARY 29, 2012 The NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Peer- to- Peer Education Course is a FREE 10-week (two hour per week) experiential education course on the topic of recovery. It is designed for anyone with serious mental illness who is interested in establishing and maintaining wellness. The course uses a combination of lecture, interactive exercises, and structured group processes. The course is designed to offer an opportunity for growth to any individual who experiences mental illness. It is taught by a team of two "mentors", or peer-teachers, who are themselves experienced in living successfully with mental illness; with one volunteer assistant.
